The Veterans Canada Superbike Racing Association (VCSRA) was founded by Lieutenant Colonel Bill Watkins (Ret’d) after his 32-year service in the Canadian Armed Forces. Throughout his military career, Lieutenant-Colonel Watkins witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by veterans, particularly those dealing with PTSD and other injuries. His passion for motorcycles and competitive racing inspired him to explore how this high-adrenaline sport could provide therapeutic benefits to veterans.
After retiring from the military, Bill wanted to continue serving his fellow veterans in a meaningful way. Recognizing the therapeutic potential of motorsports, he founded VCSRA to create a unique program where veterans could experience the thrill of motorcycle racing while benefiting from its physical and mental health advantages.
The motivation behind VCSRA stems from a deep commitment to veteran well-being. Bill and our team believe that the focus, discipline, and camaraderie found in motorcycle racing closely mirror the environment veterans experience in the military. This familiarity can be incredibly healing, providing veterans with a renewed sense of purpose and community. We are passionate about:
Holding the Line
The Veterans Canada Superbike Racing Association (VCSRA) is led by a dedicated team of veterans and motorsport enthusiasts committed to supporting the well-being of ill and injured veterans through competitive motorcycle racing. Our team brings together a diverse set of skills, experiences, and a shared passion for making a positive impact in the lives of veterans.
Lieutenant-Colonel Bill Watkins (Ret’d) is a proud veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) with 32 years of distinguished service. His extensive military career has equipped him with exceptional leadership and strategic planning skills. Following his military service, he served as the Director of Global Programming for the Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace, and Security, where he successfully implemented multi-million dollar projects around the world. His vision and dedication drive the mission of VCSRA to provide therapeutic benefits and reduce PTSD stigmatization among veterans.
Our journey began with a simple yet powerful idea: to harness the therapeutic power of motorcycle racing to support veterans. Today, VCSRA is proud to be the first and only nationwide elite-level veterans racing team in North America, making a significant impact on the lives of veterans and their families. We continue to grow, inspired by the incredible stories of resilience and recovery that our veterans share. Connect with us today for more information.
